If I have a code card and a code calculator GO3 – what will change after 1st of October 2018?

As from 1st October 2018 in addition to code cards and code calculators GO3 another security code is sent as SMS from the bank to your telephone free of charge. The SMS contains a 5-digit code to be used for approval of the specific payment or Internet-bank transaction within 10 minutes after dispatch and the payment amount (total amount in case of several payments).

Do I have to confirm my telephone number in case I use the code calculator?

Changes do not apply to code calculators DP270 - their use remains unchanged. If you frequently travel abroad and have experienced delays in delivery of SMS, an alternative solution to a code card or code calculator GO3 is the code calculator Digipass DP270.

When will I need to enter additional security code?

SMS code must be entered to approve:

  • Payments to another bank above EUR 30
  • Internet purchases by card (3D Secure payment)

If a single payment does not exceed EUR 30 or payment is made to DNB account you will be asked to enter the card code only.

SMS code will be also required in order to:
  • enter into a Regular payment agreement (if the amount exceeds EUR 30 per payment)
  • enter into a Regular invoice payment agreement
  • add the recipient to «Quick payments» to made fast and efficient Mobile bank payments in amounts of up to EUR 300 by using the PIN code only
  • to add recipients to the Whitelist (list of approved recipients) to discharge payments without SMS code.
If you make payments through Mobile bank and have to open an SMS to see the security code, upon return to the mobile application the payment will not disappear and you would be able to approve it by the received SMS code.

How can I set/change my telephone number? How can I find out what telephone number is registered with the bank?

Telephone number for the receipt of SMS codes can be set in Internet-bank under Settings > Internet-bank Settings > My Settings > SMS code/password renewal settings.
In addition to the SMS code telephone you can also set your e-mail address or another telephone number to replace the SMS code telephone in Internet-bank to avoid a visit to the branch to change the SMS code number.

What should I do if I would not manage to check and approve my mobile telephone number by 1st of October?

As we have your contacts stored in our database your contact telephone will be specified as the one to receive SMS codes to. If the number has not changed, you can easily confirm it by entering the pop-up window containing the SMS code contacts that will appear upon opening your Internet-bank. Alternatively, to change the SMS code number your e-mail address will be used.  If the contact information turns out to be incorrect, you can replace it in the Internet-bank. In case of wrong telephone number and e-mail address you can adjust them by visiting DNB branch.

What telephone number can be confirmed for the receipt of security SMS codes?

Mobile telephone numbers of both Latvian and foreign telecommunication operators can be used for the receipt of SMS codes.

What should I do if SMS code has not been delivered upon payment?

SMS code is dispatched immediately after clicking “Pay” in the payment. However, if SMS has not been received within one minute afterwards, you can click on “Modify”, return to editing and click on “Pay” once again. All codes sent with regard to the specific payment (if no adjustment of recipient and amount has been made) are valid within 10 minutes after receipt.

If none of the SMS is received, most likely it is due to the failure of telecommunication network services or the mobile device itself. In such case you are kindly asked to contact your mobile network operator for detailed info. SMS may also be delivered later if you are abroad or due to overload of the mobile network. Moreover, the device may have wrong settings or insufficient SMS memory (limit).

How can I create the Whitelist (list of defined payments)?

To simplify payments to your most frequent recipients you are offered to create the recipients’ Whitelist in Internet-bank under Settings > Saved beneficiaries. Having once approved this list by SMS code, further on payments to these recipients will be made without entering any additional SMS code. An unlimited number of recipients can be added to the Whitelist.

How secure is SMS code solution?

Every SMS code is valid for approval of the specific Internet-bank transaction. To be on the safe side, the payment amount will also be specified in the SMS for definite payment (or total amount of several payments). In Internet-bank, the information about the telephone number is not revealed.

To increase the security, our recommendation is to protect your mobile telephone by additional unblocking code as well as abstain from disclosing to any third parties that the telephone is used for the receipt of SMS codes (approval of Internet-bank payments).

The Bank’s employees never call or send e-mails asking to disclose your personal or Internet-bank access data (including the SMS code telephone number). Change of the SMS code telephone can be made at the branch or after authorisation in Internet-bank, after receiving additional security code to the approved e-mail address or another telephone number.
